The music video for "ray Cho Kaguyahime! Version," the ending theme for the original anime "Cho Kaguyahime!", the first feature-length directorial work by Seigo Yamashita, who has worked on the opening videos for popular anime such as the first season of "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man," has been released on YouTube. The ending theme is an arrangement by TAKU INOUE of the hit song "ray," which became a hot topic when the rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN welcomed Hatsune Miku as their first featured artist, and is sung by Kaguya and Tsukimi Yachiyo.
The music video was directed by Director Yamashita himself and is made up of completely new footage, depicting scenes not shown in the main story, such as Sakyo Saiba's childhood, Kaguya and Saiba's daily life, Yachiyo's secret feelings, and the sequel to the story. In the live section, Kaguya, Saiba, and Yachiyo perform in new swimsuit-style costumes.
Regarding the music video, Director Yamashita commented, "We'll be showing you the 'true happy ending' of 'Super Kaguyahime!' It's my favorite of all the short videos I've made! *As a side note about one scene in the music video, Iyaha, who has specialized knowledge, gets permission and uses futuristic technology to dissolve and excavate the bedrock, so people of today should never try to imitate this!"
The work is a "music anime" inspired by the classic "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." Sakyo Saiba, a 17-year-old high school girl who leads an incredibly busy life juggling part-time work and studies, meets Kaguya, who appears from inside a gaming telephone pole that glows in seven colors. Studio Colorido, known for "Penguin Highway," teamed up with Studio Chromat, led by director Yamashita, to produce the anime. Music was provided by a stellar lineup of Vocaloid producers, including ryo from "supercell," kz from "livetune," 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. The main cast includes Natsuyoshi as Kaguya, Nagase Anna as Sakyo Saiba, and Hayami Saori as Tsukimi Yachiyo. It began streaming as a "Netflix movie" on January 22nd.
