It has been revealed that former figure skaters Mai and Mao Asada will be appearing on the 50th anniversary special of the long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room," hosted by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, which will be broadcast on February 1st (TV Asahi network, excluding some areas).
The two appeared in chic outfits, including gray and brown dresses. When Kuroyanagi heard that Mai was 37 and Mao was 35, she was surprised to see them both have become grown-up women, saying, "Wow! When I first met you, you were just teenagers! I'm surprised you haven't changed at all..."
The two first appeared on the show in 2006. When footage from that time was shown, when Mai was 17 and Mao was 15, the two laughed and said, "It brings back memories... we were so young!" and "I can't believe we were talking about things like that (laughs)."
Mao, who started a new career as a coach last year, spoke about the skating rink that will be named after her, and revealed that she and her sister are addicted to shaved ice. She also spoke about her thoughts on the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be held in February.
Furthermore, guests Tsurube Shofutei and Sanma Akashiya also appeared. In fact, Tsurube and Sanma are big fans of Mao. When Sanma first appeared on stage with Mao, he said, "I'll give you all my assets." When Kuroyanagi revealed this fact, Mao replied, "I haven't received them yet!", leaving Sanma at a loss for words.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the program, "Celebrating Tetsuko's Room's 50th Anniversary: A Super Luxury Celebration Special with the Whole Entertainment Industry," will be broadcast from 5:00 PM to 8:56 PM on February 1st. Also announced to appear are popular group Snow Man's Ren Meguro and actress Rie Miyazawa.
