The second episode of the drama series "Winter Something, Spring Something" (NTV, Wednesdays at 10pm), starring actress Hana Sugisaki, aired on January 21st. In the episode, there is a scene where Fumina, a novelist played by Sugisaki, is called by Kotaro (Okayama Amane), a senior at the part-time job she had when she was a student, and Fumina's subsequent actions sparked a stir on social media.

In the second episode, on a sunny winter day, Fumina is talking with the waiter Kazuchi-kun (Mizusawa Rintaro) and the manager Joe-san (Serizawa Koji) at her favorite coffee shop, Isunikyaku, about how to spend Christmas. "Do you want to spend Christmas with your lover?" Fumina is of the opinion that it's okay not to spend it, but her boyfriend Yukio (Ryo Narita) is of the opinion that he does.
On Christmas Eve, Fumina enjoys shopping and dinner with Yukio. However, the next morning, Yukio asks Fumina, "Why don't we live together around summer?" and she is unable to give an immediate answer. Her friend En-chan (Nouchi Maru), who works with her at a second-hand clothing store, and Kazuki-kun, who didn't spend Christmas with her, each have their own worries... and the story unfolds.
Kazuki, who is depressed after being dumped by his girlfriend, vents his frustration on Fumina by asking, "Do you really love your boyfriend?" and "Is that kind of relationship fun?" After an argument, Fumina ends the conversation and leaves. When she returns home, Kotaro calls her back to the store and she learns that he has been dumped by his girlfriend.
Later, Fumina says to Kotaro, who has a crush on her, "It's like when you get dumped by your girlfriend and then you contact the girl you like, isn't it?" Kotaro replies, "If you thought that, you shouldn't have come."
Fumina then bluntly says, "That's enough, that's so lame. I don't get annoyed by words that aren't true," and then invites Kotaro to a hotel, saying, "That's enough, let's go to a hotel. You want to sleep, don't you? With me. I can't go out with Kotaro, but if that's okay, then that's fine, let's go." The two then go to the hotel together, but Kotaro says, "I don't think this is right after all," and begins to tell Fumina, who is pretending to be asleep, what he felt.
On social media, many people expressed their confusion over Fumina inviting Kotaro to a hotel. Comments included, "I really don't understand it, it's leaving me speechless," "I don't understand why she would go to a hotel to see Yuki," "What? Wait, wait, I'm not caught up yet," "What an incredible woman," and "Going to a hotel with another man even though she has a boyfriend is just too crazy."
