TBS Sunday Theatre "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm) starring Suzuki Ryohei will begin airing on January 18th. Suzuki will play two different roles: a good-natured pastry chef who has lost his wife, and a corrupt detective. Toda Erika will make her Sunday Theatre debut as a mysterious certified public accountant who helps the pastry chef.
The script is written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who has worked on "Grand Maison Tokyo" (TBS), among other works. The story follows Hayase Riku (Suzuki), an ordinary pastry chef at a Western-style pastry shop who is framed for the murder of his wife. In order to prove his innocence and find the real culprit, he abandons his beloved family and past and reboots himself as Gido Ayumi, a corrupt detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division. This is Suzuki's third lead role in a Sunday Theatre production, following "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room" (2021) and "Gekokujo Baseball Player" (2023).
Toda plays the mysterious certified public accountant Kogo Ichika, Kitamura Yukiya plays Goroku Wataru, the head of the underground organization and representative of Go-Six Corporation, Nagase Ren from the popular group King & Prince plays Goroku's subordinate Fuyuhashi Wataru, Ito Hideaki plays Metropolitan Police Department inspector Makita Masachika, and Aju Makita, a young detective in the Gido squad.
Episode 1: Hayase Riku, the owner of Hayase Pastry Shop, is a kind-hearted pastry chef who loves his family. Two and a half years ago, his wife, Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka), suddenly disappeared. He continues to wait for her return with his son, Takumi (Yazaki Akira), and his mother, Yoshiko (Harada Mieko).
However, he is informed by Detective Gido Ayumu (Suzuki) of the First Investigative Division that a skeletal body has been discovered in the mountains, and it is determined that the body is that of his wife.
During the funeral, Hayase is asked a puzzling question by Kaieda Isamu (Yoshi Sakou), the legal advisor for Go-Six Corporation, where Natsumi worked. The company operates hotels and restaurants. The company's president, Go-Six Wataru (Kitamura), has a hidden side and is also connected to Gido. Also present at the funeral are Go-Six's subordinates, Fuyuhashi Wataru (Nagase) and finance officer, Kogo Ichika (Toda).
To add to his grief, Detective Adachi (Makida) of the First Investigative Division and others confiscate Natsumi's computer and other items. Based on certain evidence, Hayase is suspected of murdering his wife.
Hayase, who has lost his beloved wife and is now being pursued by the police, is proposed by Ichika to reboot his life by taking on the identity of Gido. Hayase abandons his family and past and disguises himself as Gido in order to find the real culprit behind his wife's murder. However, Gido is under the scrutiny of the inspector, Makita (played by Ito).
