The second episode of the TV anime " You and I Are Polar Opposites, " based on the manga by Kocha Agasawa that was serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," aired on January 18th, and introduced new characters: the mascot character Yeti, and Tempura, the pet cat of the valley that the protagonist Suzuki has feelings for. It was also revealed that Tomori Kusunoki will be playing Yeti, and Wataru Kato will be playing Tempura. Kusunoki will be playing Honda, and Kato will be playing Taira, so they will be playing dual roles, playing Yeti and Tempura.
Kusunoki commented, "I'm Kusunoki Tomori, and I'll also be playing the role of Yeti! I think it was a bit of a surprise that I appeared before Honda, but I never expected to be able to play two roles...I'm so happy! In fact, Honda didn't audition, it was Yeti who auditioned. I have no idea what kind of miracle happened. As Yeti, I hope to watch over everyone's love lives and bring them sometimes healing and sometimes excitement. Thank you for your support◎."
Kato said, "The role of Tempura was decided through an audition among the people in the studio after recording finished one day. I had to say the line, 'I'm ____, and I play Tempura. (Several different sounds) Thank you very much' about 15 times, which was a rather surreal sight. You can't suddenly prepare a voice for Tempura. In order to maintain that voice, sometimes I respond to the director with a falsetto, saying, 'I understand now.' I worry that people around me might think I'm joking."
The manga was serialized in "Shonen Jump+" from May 2022 to November 2024. It is a romantic comedy depicting the love story between Suzuki, a lively girl who reads the atmosphere, and Tani, a quiet boy who can clearly express his opinions. The total number of copies of the comics, including the digital version, is over 1.6 million. The anime will be directed by Takakazu Nagatomo and produced by Lapin Track. It will be broadcast every Sunday at 5pm on the MBS and TBS networks.
