Actors Ryohei Suzuki and Erika Toda appeared at the production announcement for the TBS Sunday Theatre "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm) held in Tokyo on January 15th.
The drama is an original work that popular screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa spent three years planning. It is a suspense story about a kind-hearted pastry chef, Hayase Riku (played by Suzuki), who is framed for the murder of his wife, but must abandon his beloved family and past and pose as a corrupt Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department detective, Gido Ayumu, in order to prove his innocence and find the real culprit.
Suzuki and Toda appeared together in the 2015 film "Yokubohan," but they barely had any scenes together. Suzuki expressed his great trust in Toda, saying, "This is practically my first time acting with Toda. We both have a similar approach to creating a story, where we read the story thoroughly, discuss it with various people, and place importance on communication. With such a story, I was really grateful that we were able to confirm things with each other as we made it, and I don't think this is a work that could have been made without Toda."
Suzuki then started, "But there's one thing that bothers me a little. The screen of my smartphone is cracking. That's the only thing that bothers me," revealing a surprising side of Toda.
Toda simply said, "As long as I can see the text, the screen doesn't matter (laughs)." However, after Suzuki pointed it out, she bought a new smartphone, but revealed, "There are about two scratches now. The back of the smartphone has always been like that, and I ran over it while riding my bicycle, so the back is even more cracked."
"My smartphone fell out of the basket of my bicycle and got pulled by the back wheel. I thought, 'Oh no,' but I thought, 'Oh well,' (laughs). I've been living with it as is. I do have some weird preferences, but I'm also a pretty careless person who doesn't really have any preferences (laughs)," he said.
Also appearing at the production announcement event were King & Prince's Nagase Ren, Aju Makita, and Nakagawa Daisuke, Mrs. Green Apple's Fujisawa Suzuka, and Diane's Tsuda Atsuhisa, Ito Hideaki, and Kitamura Yukiya.
