The first episode of the TV Asahi drama "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (Tuesdays at 9:00 PM), starring Ryoma Takeuchi, was broadcast on January 13th, and viewers were drawn to a certain action taken by the main character, Junichi Hina, played by Takeuchi.
The drama is based on the novel "Reunion" (Kodansha) by Yokoseki Dai, which won the 56th Edogawa Rampo Prize in 2010. It is a human love mystery that begins with a fateful reunion 23 years later between four classmates who share a secret: they buried a gun used in a crime under a cherry tree at their school during their elementary school days.
In the first episode, Junichi, now a detective, is investigating the murder of a supermarket manager, and the murder weapon turns out to be a gun that he had once buried with a classmate.
One scene that drew particular attention was the scene in which Junichi repeatedly washes his hands. Viewers posted comments on social media such as, "Junichi always washes his hands...", "I'm curious as to why he washes his hands so often", "I wonder if Junichi is washing his hands so often because he's traumatized", "Is it because he got blood on his hands from the incident 23 years ago that he's been washing his hands so thoroughly since then?" and "There are many scenes in which Takeuchi Ryoma is washing his hands. Something seems to be going on."
