It has been announced that "Candy Caries," a stop-motion animation created in collaboration with WIT STUDIO and director Tomoki Misato, known for the anime "Pui Pui Molcar," will be broadcast and streamed as a new original TV anime starting in April. Set in a "squishy" world made of materials such as plastic board and acrylic, the series depicts the hectic daily life of Ame, a girl who loves sweets, and Caries, a free-spirited tooth decay survivor living in Ame's mouth. Released on YouTube in March 2021, it has gained popularity, with around 1.75 million views to date, and will now be broadcast as a TV anime.
The teaser PV and key visual have been released, depicting Ame being overwhelmed by the unrestrained behavior of the caries cavity that has taken up residence in her mouth.
Director Misato commented, "I tried a new type of stop-motion with a new character! This time I used plastic board and acrylic. It's flat like an illustration, but plump and thick, it's a semi-three-dimensional animation. It looks cute, like a row of stickers and accessories, but a merciless commotion ensues. Enjoy the story of Caries, a girl with a cavity who does DIY in her mouth and is actually living with a parasite, and Ame, the host child who is at its mercy!"
