It has been revealed that a sequel to the sixth season of the anime series "Kingdom," based on the popular manga by Yasuhisa Hara, will be produced. The 13th and final episode of the sixth season, "The General's View," was broadcast on NHK General TV late at night on December 27th, and the sequel was announced. A visual of the bloody and wounded mountain king Yang Duanhe and his right-hand man Bajio was released.
The sixth series depicted the fierce battle between the Qin and Zhao states. In the sequel, the battle with Zhao over Gyō becomes even more intense, and the key to the story is the battle for pride between Yang Duanhe, King of the Mountains, and Lozo, King of the Dainrong tribe.
Two special videos looking back on the sixth season have been released on YouTube. They feature the opening theme "Ikite, Sansan" by the music unit Ikimonogakari and the ending theme "Houkou" by singer-songwriter Sora Tomonari.
"Kingdom" is a popular manga that has been serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) since 2006. Set in the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period of China, it depicts the exploits of Shin, who aims to become the greatest general in the world, as well as the drama of heroes such as King Ei Sei of Qin, who later becomes known as the First Emperor. The total number of copies of the comics published has exceeded 120 million.
The first series of the TV anime aired from June 2012 to February 2013, the second from June 2013 to March 2014, the third from April to October 2021, the fourth from April to October 2022, and the fifth from January to March 2024. The sixth series began airing in October and aired its final episode on December 27th.
