It has been announced that rock band King Gnu will be performing the opening theme " Culling Game " for the third season of the TV anime " Jujutsu Kaisen ," based on the popular manga by Gege Akutami that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). This will be King Gnu's third time performing a theme song for the series, following " Jujutsu Kaisen 0" and "Shibuya Incident" for the second season of the TV anime. A promotional video has been released, showcasing the song. It has also been announced that the first episode of the third season will be broadcast as a one-hour special. Episodes 1 and 2 will be broadcast in a single go.
King Gnu's Daiki Tsuneta commented, "We are all proud that our new song, 'AIZO,' is a new update on King Gnu's classic style. As a viewer, I was really looking forward to the Culling Game arc. I hope you will enjoy it to start the new year off with a bang."
The cast members who will play new characters appearing in the third season have also been announced: Kazuya Nakai as Kinji, Tomokazu Sugita Sakakibara as Kirara Hoshi, Tomokazu Sugita as Fumihiko Takaba Hissha, Satoshi Tsuruoka as Fumihiko Takaba, Jo Aoyama as Reggie Star, and Neeko as Kogane.
An "anoter ver." of the teaser visual for the third season has been released, adding characters engaged in a fierce battle in the Culling Game.
It was also announced that the total number of copies of the "Jujutsu Kaisen" series worldwide has exceeded 150 million. The first volume of the spin-off manga "Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Jump," will be released on January 5, 2026.
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021, and the second season, "Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu/ Shibuya Incident," aired from July to December 2023. The third season, "Culling Game Part 1," will be broadcast nationwide simultaneously on the MBS/TBS anime block "Super Animeism TURBO" every Thursday at 12:26 a.m. starting January 8, 2026.
