Actor Yo Oizumi attended a press conference for his starring drama "A Little Esper" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), which aired its final episode that night, held at the TV Asahi headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo on December 16th. He spoke about his interactions with cast members of other networks' dramas.
The film is based on an original script by Akiko Nogi, and depicts the story of Bunta (Oizumi), a salaryman at rock bottom in life, who becomes a bit of a psychic and takes on the mission of "saving the world" with his friends.
Regarding the show, which has also become a hot topic of discussion, Oizumi seemed surprised at the sharpness of the viewers, saying, "Many people got it right early on." She then said, "I like 'A Little Bit of Esper,' but I also like 'The Royal Family,'" referring to the TBS Sunday Theatre series that recently aired its final episode, drawing laughter.
She said that she and Wakana Matsumoto, who appeared in "The Royal Family," "we complimented each other's dramas," and revealed that Matsumoto's astute observations had proven correct, saying, "Fairly early on, Wakana predicted that Shiki's (played by Aoi Miyazaki) real husband might be Cho (played by Masaki Okada). I was annoyed when she said it after about the first episode (laughs)."
Dean Fujioka, who plays fellow esper Sakurasuke, also attended the press conference.
