It has been announced that singer-songwriter Toshinobu Kubota will be appearing as a voice actor in the TV anime "Let's Play: My Life Full of Quests," based on the popular web manga "Let's Play." This will be Kubota's first time trying his hand at voice acting. He will voice himself, "Toshinobu Kubota," in the 12th and final episode, "CONTINUE," which will air on December 17th. Kubota is also attracting attention for singing the opening theme "1, 2, Play" and the ending theme "Left & Right," his first anime theme song in about 30 years.
This was Kubota's first experience with dubbing, and he commented, "First of all, I'm sorry to the professional voice actors. The lines I was given were only for a brief moment, but they were difficult. I thought in particular while acting that the role of myself, Toshinobu Kubota, was the most difficult. I think that playing a role allows you to create a character more boldly."
He sent a message to fans saying, "I wrote these two songs. The opening is an exciting and challenging song. The ending is the opposite, a lovely song. I think they go well with the various stories that the anime tells, so I hope you will look forward to listening to them and watching the anime."
The series is set in Los Angeles, USA. The story follows Sam Young, a 22-year-old who dreams of becoming a game creator. He has always avoided deep relationships with men, but as he quickly becomes close to three men, he gradually begins to break out of his shell. The series has garnered popularity, with a total of over 900 million views and over 6.8 million subscribers worldwide.
The anime will be directed by Daiki Tomiyasu, who has worked on the "Pokemon" series, and produced by OLM. Kana Hanazawa will play Sam, while Shinba Tsuchiya, Yuichi Nakamura, and Tomokazu Sugita will play the three men who appear before Sam. It is currently airing on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "+Ultra" and elsewhere.
