It has been announced that Yasunori Danta and Noriko Eguchi will appear in the drama series "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), starring Ryoma Takeuchi, which will start on January 13, 2026. They will play police officers who investigate the truth behind a murder case together with the main character, Junichi Tobina (played by Takeuchi).
This work is based on Yokoseki Dai's novel "Reunion" (Kodansha), which won the 56th Edogawa Rampo Prize in 2010. Junichi and four other classmates share a "secret" when they bury a gun used in a crime under a cherry tree at their elementary school. 23 years later, Junichi, now a detective, reunites with his first love, Iwamoto Makiko (Inoue Mao), one of the four, only to discover she is a suspect in a new murder case, and the murder weapon is the gun he buried long ago. This heartbreaking human love mystery begins with a fateful reunion.
Danta will play Fusanori Kosugi, Junichi's superior and the kindhearted chief of Mitsuba Police Station in Kanagawa Prefecture. He is gentle and considerate of his subordinates, and is always concerned about Junichi. He also serves as the head of the special investigation headquarters for a murder case in which Junichi's classmates are suspects.
Regarding his appearance, Danta commented, "I worked with Takeuchi once before on 'Black Pean Season 2' (TBS, 2024), but we didn't have many scenes together. So I'm looking forward to acting together this time." Regarding his character Kosugi, he said, "He's very caring towards his subordinates. In fact, at the suggestion of director Fukagawa Yoshihiro, we added a side of him that loves flowers, but that's how kind-hearted and a great boss he is. I would like to play that kind of boss well."
Eguchi plays Rikako Minami, a detective from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police's First Investigative Division who teams up with Junichi in the investigation of the crime. She is a mysterious character who has been described as "the oddball in the prefectural police force," but she is an excellent detective. She calmly and collectedly observes Junichi's words and actions as he interacts with the suspects.
Eguchi commented, "Takeuchi-san is a rare type these days. When we first met, he said, 'Nice to meet you!' and quickly held out his hand for a handshake. I thought he was a very passionate person. And not just passionate, he's also gentle and has a really big heart. I feel like we'll get along well as buddies, and I'm looking forward to having fun filming." Regarding Rikako, he said, "There are quite a few stage directions in the script that say 'at your own pace.' I'm trying to figure out how to express that. I hope to work with the director to create a character with a unique personality."
