It has been revealed that Neru Nagahama will appear in the TV Asahi Thursday drama "Okome no Onna - National Tax Agency Document Investigation Division, Miscellaneous Affairs Room" (broadcasting begins January 8, 2026), starring actress Nanako Matsushima .
The story is set in the drama's original department, the Complex National Tax Case Processing Office (commonly known as Zakkoku), which was newly established within the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau's Document Investigation Division (commonly known as Kome), which boasts high information gathering and investigative skills in tax audits and is known as the ``last bastion of tax audits.'' The story follows talented investigator Masako Yoneda (Matsushima) as she and a group of unique individuals as they punish unscrupulous tax evaders.
Nagahama plays Tawara Yuka, who is recruited by Masako to join Zakkoku. During her time at the tax office, she was recognized for her excellence and became a member of the "Kome" team at a young age, but was transferred to a new position due to the emphasis on work-life balance. She worked regular hours, but for some reason was recruited by Masako to join Zakkoku. She has exceptional communication skills, is well versed in psychology, and is a genius at winning people over. Her character is outspoken and always makes bold remarks regardless of age or position.
Nagahama commented on her role as Yuka, "She has a clear on/off switch, and she has a side to her that makes her completely absorbed in the things she likes, and I really related to that aspect of her," and added, "I was excited to see this team of independent, slightly dry, 'hardcore' people tackling problems with their own individual beliefs."
Regarding co-starring with Matsushima, he said, "I grew up watching many of the works that Nanako Matsushima has appeared in, so when I found out that I would be working with her I was surprised and very honored. I am very much looking forward to facing various challenges as part of the same team."
