"Golden Kamuy" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) from 2014 to 2022. It depicts the story of "Immortal Sugimoto," a former hero of the Russo-Japanese War, who discovers clues to buried treasure hidden by a death row inmate in Hokkaido and embarks on an adventure with an Ainu girl.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2018, the second from October to December of the same year, and the third from October to December 2020. The fourth season began airing in October 2022, was on hiatus from November, and resumed in April 2023, running until June of the same year. A film starring Kento Yamazaki was released in 2024 and became a hit, grossing over 3 billion yen. A sequel drama version aired from October to December 2024. The second film, "Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Attack Arc," will be released on March 13, 2026.
