The Fuji TV Wednesday 10pm drama "If This World Were a Stage, Where Would the Dressing Room Be?" (Wednesdays at 10pm) is written by Koki Mitani and stars Masaki Suda. The synopsis and stills for episode 8, which will air on November 19th, have been released.
At the WS Theater, director Hisabe (Suda) is performing Shakespeare's play "The Winter's Tale." Juri (Hamabe Minami), a shrine maiden at Hachibun Shrine, is watching the play and frantically taking notes. Her father, Ronpei (Bando Yajuro), retorts, "You can't concentrate on the play, can you?", but Juri refuses to listen, saying, "I'm just checking what can be cut."
Juri, who has begun to be attracted to Hisabe, is prepared to do anything for him. The script has already been significantly revised, and an old lady (Rinko Kikuchi) sitting in the audience nastily remarks, "My scenes have all been cut."
Meanwhile, while Koreo Reizaburo (Asano Kazuyuki) and Kent-chan (Matsuda Shinya) are performing on stage, a sudden heckling from the audience shouts, "You're so bad!" The one shouting is Toro (Ikuta Toma), Rika's (Nikaido Fumi) former lover...
The drama is a coming-of-age ensemble drama set in Shibuya in 1984, and is a completely original story that includes semi-autobiographical elements from Mitani. In a corner of Shibuya, a bustling center of youth culture, the drama depicts the struggles, setbacks, and sometimes love affairs of young people who are still unknown, in the full "Mitani world."
