Bonchi Osamu and Satomi Masato of the comedy duo "The Bonchi," who have been in the entertainment industry for 55 years, will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on November 18th.
During the manzai boom of the early 1980s, they took the world by storm and were the darlings of the era. Their songs were also big hits at the time, and they enjoyed chatting about their memories with host Kuroyanagi. When the boom ended, they were forced to disband, and they also experienced financial hardship. However, they never lost their passion for comedy, and reformed at the age of 50.
The efforts and conviction they put into getting back on stage are what support their current brilliance. This year, they made it to the top eight of "THE SECOND," a manzai competition open to comers who have been together for 16 years or more, and are once again attracting attention, even though they are in their 70s.
