It has been announced that "The Devil Wears Prada 2," the sequel to the 2006 hit film "The Devil Wears Prada" (directed by David Frankel), starring American actress Anne Hathaway and described as "the bible for working women," will be released simultaneously in Japan and the US on May 1, 2026. The teaser trailer and poster were released on November 13.
The trailer, released in the US on November 12th, Hathaway's birthday, begins with a scene of a woman's feet clattering in high heels across the floor as Madonna plays the theme song to the previous film, "Vogue." The scene then shows Andrea (Hathaway), who once found fulfillment in her fashion career but left charismatic editor-in-chief Miranda (Meryl Streep) to pursue her own dreams, reunited in an elevator with Miranda, who had a major impact on Andrea's life, and they exchange a smile and say, "It's been a while."
The poster features a large, bright red high heel with the tip resembling a trident, reminiscent of the devil, creating an impactful design.
In the first film, Andrea, an aspiring journalist in New York, is hired as an assistant to Miranda, the charismatic editor-in-chief of Runway, the top fashion magazine that everyone admires. Despite nearly losing herself in the unfamiliar fashion industry and Miranda's unreasonable demands, Andrea continues to hone her skills through hard work and challenges, gradually winning Miranda's trust.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" will be directed by Frankel, as with the previous film, with Aline Brosh McKenna writing the script. In addition to Hathaway and Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Thibaut Feldman will also be reprising their roles.
The story of the two who meet again is depicted with stylish visuals that will make you want to shine a little more and motivate you for tomorrow. We can expect a gorgeous story that continues the worldview of the previous film, as well as a human drama that will move the audience's hearts.
