Itsuki (Kusanagi) decides to answer Makoto's (Nakamura Yuri) phone, which keeps ringing. He explains the situation to Toshito (Kaname Jun) on the other end of the phone and apologizes. Toshito, who is clearly displeased, tells him to let Makoto go home as soon as her fever goes down.
The next morning, although Makoto's fever has subsided, Itsuki is still worried about her health and advises her to return to Tokyo. However, Makoto decides to go back to Izu and heads to the workshop where Koharu's (Jun Fubuki) keepsake writing box was made. On the way there, Itsuki answers a phone call from Rihito and tells him that he explained the reason for his overnight stay, which makes Makoto furious for some reason. There is a reason for that...
Takezawa (Iida Motosuke), the son of the previous owner who made the writing boxes, remembers Koharu and Makoto's father, Sasaki Shunsuke (Kaji Masaki). According to Takezawa, one day 40 years ago, Sasaki suddenly showed up at the workshop and became an apprentice to the previous owner. The "couple" bought a house near the sea and lived happily together.
However, one day, an unexpected incident causes the two lovers to separate. When Itsuki and Makoto hear the story, they are left speechless. In Tokyo, when Itsuki's colleagues find out that he and Makoto have spent the night in Izu, they are excitedly talking about the two. After Aoi (Ozawa Ryushin) finishes tending to the flower beds left to him by Isobe (Nakamura Masatoshi), he receives an email from an old colleague...
The script is by Miyuki Takahashi. The story follows Itsuki Torikai (played by Kusanagi), a single-parent estate organizer raising a young child, as he and his colleagues at the estate organizer work with families facing various challenges.
