The main cast of WOWOW's drama "Serial Drama W Sirius no Hansho" (5 episodes in total, the first episode will be broadcast for free), starring former Hey! Say! JUMP member Yuto Nakajima, which will begin airing and streaming on January 10, 2026, was revealed on November 11th. In addition, a Teaser trailer was released, marking the first time that footage from the series has been released.
The film is based on the novel of the same name (KADOKAWA) by popular author Takeaki Daimon, who has written many socially conscious mystery works incorporating profound themes and clever criminal tricks. The film will be directed by Yusaku Matsumoto, who made waves with his realistic and sensitive portrayal of a real-life incident in the 2023 film "Winny."
Sawa Nimura plays Sana Higashiyama, the leader of "Team Zero," a support group for those wrongfully convicted, who works with lawyer Shota Fujishima (played by Nakajima) to seek a retrial of the death sentence. Daichi Kaneko plays Sosuke Yasuno, a lawyer who has been Fujishima's Naoto Ogata friend since high school and is the mood maker of "Team Zero." Naoto Ogata plays Kazunari Hieda, the chief prosecutor who sought the death penalty for a crime 25 years ago and is now the head of the Gifu District Public Prosecutors Office.
Furthermore, Masuoka Toru will play Suzuki Ryozo, the Minister of Justice who has the authority to carry out the death penalty. Watanabe Ikkei will play Hirokawa Mitsuaki, the chief examiner involved in the fingerprint analysis of the case. Gozu Takeo will play Miyahara Nobuo, a death row inmate who is accused of being the perpetrator of the crime. Kawashima Suzuharu will play Tanase Risako, a coffee shop employee in Gujo City who meets Fujishima.
In addition, the cast includes talented actors such as Kondo Yoshimasa as fingerprint expert Shimura Hirofumi, Yoshimura Kaito as Miyahara's son Tsukada Shinya, who has lived as a member of the perpetrator's family, and Ayata Toshiki as Otsubo Shiro, the lawyer in charge of Miyahara's final trial.
Fujishima Shota (Nakajima), a lawyer belonging to "Team Zero," an organization that works to provide relief to victims of false accusations, receives a letter that reads, "Trust me, I didn't do it." It is from Miyahara (Gozu Takeo), who was sentenced to death 25 years ago for the brutal murder of a family in Gujo Hachiman, Gifu Prefecture. Fujishima sees Miyahara as a repulsive figure, and feels conflicted. However, as he begins to investigate the case, he discovers unnatural facts that contradict the prosecution's claims.
The fingerprint analysis hurdle stands before Fujishima and his team, and the head of the Gifu District Public Prosecutors Office, Prosecutor General Hieda Kazunari (Ogata), also takes action. As Miyahara's execution draws closer, Fujishima, along with Team Zero's young leader Higashiyama Sana (Nimura) and his best friend Yasuno Sosuke (Kaneko), take on the seemingly impossible challenge of requesting a retrial... This is the story.
"Serial Drama W Sirius no Hansho" will be broadcast on WOWOW Prime from January 10th at 10pm on Saturdays, and will also be available on WOWOW On Demand.
