It has been revealed that the musical "A Certain Man," which starred actors Kenji Urai and Teppei Koike and was performed in Tokyo, Hiroshima, and other cities from August to September this year, will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW on December 27th.
"A Certain Man" is based on the novel of the same name (Bunshun Bunko/Cork) by Akutagawa Prize-winning author Keiichiro Hirano. The screenplay and direction are by Misaki Setoyama, and the music is by Broadway composer Jason Howland. The story revolves around a lawyer who receives a strange request to uncover the truth behind a "strange feeling" about her late husband, and unfolds as a grand yet delicate tale revolving around the dead man's true identity.
It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 7:00 PM on December 27th.
◇Story
Kido Akira (Urai), a lawyer who lives a seemingly happy life, is drawn into a deep current when he receives a strange request for investigation. The client is Taniguchi Satoe (Sonin). Satoe is devastated by the sudden loss of her beloved husband, Daisuke, in a freak accident. However, Daisuke's brother, Taniguchi Kyoichi (Uehara Rio), with whom she has been estranged for many years, confronts her with a shocking truth: the person she loved, including his name and past, were all lies.
Who on earth is X (Koike), the man who pretended to be Taniguchi Daisuke (Kamikawa Kazuya), the second son of a hot springs inn owner? Kido becomes absorbed in the investigation together with Goto Misuzu (Hamada Megumi), Daisuke's ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, at home, the rift between him and his wife, Kido Kaori (Chinen Rina), is deepening. While being manipulated by Omiura Norio (Kaga Takeshi), an imprisoned family registry broker who knows about a past incident, Kido is led through X's life to the question, "What is the origin of human existence?" and steps deeper into the darkness.
