A new cut has been released for the animated feature film " Scarlet " (released November 21st), the latest work by director Mamoru Hosoda, known for such works as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and " Summer Wars ." The cut is of a battle scene in which the main character, Scarlet, continues to fight to get revenge on her nemesis, Claudius. The scene shows Scarlet gritting her teeth and with a burning desire for revenge in her eyes, as if she is about to draw her sword from its sheath and approach.
Invited to the Animation is Film Festival, held in Los Angeles from October 17th to 19th, Director Hosoda returned to Los Angeles immediately after returning from the New York Film Festival. Jin Kim, who designed the characters for Scarlett and Hijiri in Hosoda's latest film, following his previous work The Dragon and the Freckled Princess, attended the screening and watched the film for the first time. Kim praised the film, saying, "Having seen Director Hosoda's previous works, I had high expectations, and he did not disappoint. The film was made with far more attention to detail than I expected, and the characters were portrayed so vividly... It was truly like magic!"
Upon meeting Kim, Director Hosoda expressed his gratitude, saying, "I finally got to meet you. I learned so much from Jin's almost lifelike (character) sketch designs. Thank you so much!" Kim explained the background to the creation of Scarlett's character design, saying, "When I heard the story from the director, I felt pain, anguish, and sadness from her (Scarlett). I wanted to express those deep emotions in my drawings, so I drew many pictures with sad expressions."
The theme of the latest film is "living," and director Hosoda wrote the original story and screenplay. After her father was killed and her revenge failed, Scarlett once again attempts to exact revenge on her nemesis in the Land of the Dead. The Land of the Dead is a place where if one does not achieve revenge on their nemesis and reach the "endless place," they will become nothing and their existence will disappear, and Scarlett embarks on an endless journey of revenge.
Actress Mana Ashida will voice Scarlett, and Masaki Okada will voice Hijiri, a modern-day Japanese nurse who travels with Scarlett.
