Voice actor and actor Kenjiro Tsuda will appear in the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Ryusei Yokohama , from the 40th episode "The Never-ending Fountain of Desire", which will be broadcast on October 19th. This will be Tsuda's first time appearing in a Taiga drama. Looking back on the start of filming, he said, "I was really looking forward to what the atmosphere would be like and seeing the actors' performances, and I was a little nervous, but the opening day was a fun and harmonious one, so I thought it was great and I was a little relieved."
Tsuda plays Takizawa Sokichi (later known as Kyokutei Bakin). Through an introduction by Kitao Masaaki/Yamagata Kyoden (Furukawa Yudai), Sokichi is taken in as a clerk at Tsutaju's (Yokohama) Koshodo for a while. While working there, he begins writing his own novels as a playwright.
Tsutaju pairs up Katsukawa Haruo (Kukkie!) with the new talent to compete against each other, but... In actual history, it took him 28 years to complete the fantasy novel "Nansō Satomi Hakkenden," which has a loyal readership that continues into modern times.
"He was an exceptionally talented playwright who wrote the Edo period's huge bestseller, 'Nansō Satomi Hakkenden.'"
Tsuda said about Sokichi, "He's basically very arrogant, doesn't care about or notice many things, is a bit bold and has a lot of absent-mindedness, and although he comes from a samurai family, he works for Tsutaju as a townsman. There are still many things I don't know about him, so I hope to dig deeper to see what kind of role he will play. I'm looking forward to it."
" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama and depicts the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have laid the foundations for Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, who is known for her work on the highly talked-about "Drama 10: Ooku," which aired on NHK two years ago.
