The popular TV anime " Detective Conan " (Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV, Saturdays at 6pm), based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama , will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. To commemorate this, it has been announced that a one-hour special " Detective Conan Episode ZERO: Kudo Shinichi Aquarium Incident" will be broadcast in January 2026. The story begins shortly before high school detective Kudo Shinichi becomes Edogawa Conan after being drugged by the Black Organization, and visits the Beika Aquarium with his childhood friend Mouri Ran, where they encounter a murder case.
Shinichi and Ran visit the aquarium as a preparatory step for their "Aquarium Surprise Reunion Love Revival Mission," a plan to reconcile Ran's estranged parents, Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki. However, their fun time ends in an instant, as Shinichi senses a strange atmosphere drifting beyond the crowd, sensing a murder and instructing Ran to call an attendant. Smelling blood, he rushes to the scene and uses all his senses to identify the culprit, beginning the detective drama of the scarlet high school detective. Beyond the incident, there is said to be "another preparatory step" that leads to that day.
To commemorate the broadcast, a key visual of Shinichi and Ran enjoying themselves at an aquarium has been released. It depicts the two at a young age, before they even start dating. The visual will be on display at the Yomiuri TV booth at the Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2025 (Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2025 (KYOMAF)), which will be held in Kyoto City on September 20th and 21st. At KYOMAF, there will also be exhibits of the episode "Ishinomaki's Hero," a collaboration with Gosho Aoyama Hour, and a handwritten questionnaire in which Aoyama answered the most frequently asked question on the "Manga Numa" program. An original illustration for the "2026 Detective Conan Calendar," which is currently accepting pre-orders, will also be released.
