Picture book "Anpanman" enters top 10 of children's book ranking for the first time

According to the "Oricon Weekly Book Ranking" for September 22nd, announced on September 19th (calculation period: September 8th-14th), the picture book "Anpanman" (Froebel-kan) by Yanase Takashi, the manga artist and picture book Takashi Yanase who created "Anpanman," ranked 10th in the children's books by genre category, making it into the top 10 in that category for the first time.

This book is a new edition published in July 2022. It was first published in 1973. It was featured in the October issue of "Kinder Story Book," a monthly picture book magazine published by Froebel-kan. It also appeared in the 24th week of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan," based on the Yanase-san and Nobu-san couple, in "The Birth of Anpanman" (September 8-12). Weekly sales totaled 2,669 copies, and it rose to 86th place in the Weekly Book Ranking (Overall), having been outside the top 100 the previous week. It also ranked 10th in the children's books by genre, marking its first time entering the top 10 in that category.

Another picture book by Yanase, the new edition of "The Gentle Lion" (published by the same publisher) released in October 2022, ranked sixth in the children's books genre with weekly sales of 3,212 copies, making it in the top 10 for three consecutive weeks.
