The world premiere of the film " Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc," a sequel to the TV anime "Chainsaw Man Man," based on Tatsuki Fujimoto 's popular manga, was held on September 15th at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), and a video comment from Kenshi Yonezu, who composed the opening and ending themes for the film, was released. Yonezu said, "I'm sure everyone here has seen the film, but I also had the chance to see the finished film at a preview the other day and was blown away by how wonderful it was. The music I composed was handled with such love. It was a truly wonderful work, and I feel grateful to have come across such a wonderful production team."
The music video for the theme song "IRIS OUT" was also released at the world premiere. "The theme song, 'IRIS OUT', was released digitally today, and the music video uses footage from the theatrical version. The reason we decided to use footage from the theatrical version for the music video is that the trailer was extremely well done. It was made in a way that conveyed to us the incredible talent and love that had gone into making it. I was really moved by that," he commented.
"So I just thought, why not just make it into a music video? The trailer was so well made that the 'bon' and 'bang' sounds of that voice fit perfectly in the right places. If that's the case, I thought, why not use that in the music? There was something so great about the trailer that I was inspired by it and even used that in the music, so that's how it turned out," he said, adding, "It'll only be a part of it, but I hope everyone in the audience will listen to it. I hope you enjoy the two songs, 'IRIS OUT' and 'JANE DOE', along with the film."
The music video for the theme song "IRIS OUT" was also released on Yonezu's official YouTube channel on the same day. The ending theme, "JANE DOE," has also been a hot topic as it was written by Yonezu and Hikaru Utada. Also appearing at the world premiere were Kikunosuke Toya, who plays Denji, Tomori Kusunoki, who plays Makima, Shogo Sakata, who plays Aki Hayakawa, and Reina Ueda, who plays Reze.
The "Reze" arc tells the story of Reze and the main character, Denji, who also appeared at the end of the TV anime that aired from October to December 2022, and became a hot topic. While Denji is excited about a date with his crush, Makima, he takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a young girl who works at a cafe. The film will be directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who served as the action director for the TV anime, and produced by MAPPA. It will be released on September 19th.
"Chainsaw Man" is a dark hero action story about a boy named Denji who is possessed by a demon and works as a devil hunter. Part 1 was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from December 2018 to December 2020. Part 2 has been serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" since July 2022.
