The world premiere of the theatrical anime " Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc," a sequel to the TV anime "Chainsaw Man Man," based on Tatsuki Fujimoto 's popular manga, was held on September 15th at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), with appearances by Kikunosuke Toya, who plays Denji, Tomori Kusunoki, who plays Makima, Shogo Sakata, who plays Aki Hayakawa, and Reina Ueda, who plays Reze. Toya said of "Reze Arc," "The action scenes were incredible! I watched it with such excitement, like I was on an attraction."
Kusunoki said, "As a fan, I wanted to see the movie version, and I feel elated that my dream has come true. Even though I knew what was going to happen, there were so many shocking scenes that I was completely overwhelmed." Sakata seemed excited, saying, "The pace was amazing. There were touching scenes and scenes that made me laugh, and the action scenes were very powerful. It was really good."
Ueda said, "I enjoyed seeing that action scenes could be portrayed in this way too! I also felt the power of sound. The powerful yet detailed images are what give the film its cohesiveness." Toya concluded by saying, "The production team and cast created this film with love and respect. I hope you enjoy it many times!"
At the world premiere, a video comment by Kenshi Yonezu, who also composed the theme song and ending theme for the movie, was also shown.
The "Reze" arc tells the story of Reze and the main character, Denji, who also appeared at the end of the TV anime that aired from October to December 2022, and became a hot topic. While Denji is excited about a date with his crush, Makima, he takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a young girl who works at a cafe. The film will be directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who served as the action director for the TV anime, and produced by MAPPA. It will be released on September 19th.
"Chainsaw Man" is a dark hero action story about a boy named Denji who is possessed by a demon and works as a devil hunter. Part 1 was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from December 2018 to December 2020. Part 2 has been serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" since July 2022.
