The drama series "Chihayafuru -Meguri-" (NTV, Wednesdays at 10pm) starring actress Ami Touma has released a synopsis and stills for the final episode, which will air on September 10th.
In the final qualifying round to advance to the national tournament, Meguru (Touma) and the rest of the Umezono Karuta Club face off against the reigning champion, Mizusawa. The caller of the match is Kanade (Mone Kamishiraishi). Nakanishi (Tomita Yasuko), who was originally scheduled to be the caller, has entrusted this match to Kanade, whom she sees as her successor. The caller must remain fair to all players, no matter what the situation. Will she be able to read her students' matches without letting personal feelings get in the way? This match was the "final test" given to Kanade by Nakanishi.
The match is about to begin. Kanade's introductory song reverberates throughout the stadium, captivated by her beautiful voice, including Mizusawa alumni Chihaya (Suzu Hirose), Taichi (Nomura Shuhei), Nishida (Yuuma Yamoto), and Sumire (Yuki Mio). Watching from the Umezono bleachers are reserve Haruma (Takamura Yoshito), coach Komano (Morinaga Yuki), and advisor Shima (Namioka Kazuki), while in the parent bleachers are Touko (Uchida Yuki), Susumu (Kaname Jun), and Masato (Takahashi Tsutomu). Umezono and Mizusawa face off against each other, Megu and Nagi (Nanoka Hara).
"Go Umezono!" Meguru shouts confidently. Next to her are Fuki (Jun Saito), Chieri (Arashi Rina), Sota (Soma Santoki Satoshi), and Yakumo (Sakamoto Manato). With the best teammates who have worked hard together, on the best stage, they are having the best time. "Let's all go one at a time, as always!" Meguru's voice brings Umezono back to life after being at a disadvantage from the start.
The original "Chihayafuru" is a manga by Yuki Suetsugu that was serialized in "BE・LOVE" (Kodansha) from 2007 to 2022. The drama will depict an original story set 10 years after the events of the trilogy, which was made into films in 2016 ("Kami no Ku") and 2018 ("Musubi").
