It has been revealed that talent Naomi Watanabe will be the Japanese voice actor for Rosalyn, the character played by Lady Gaga, in season 2 of "Wednesday," currently streaming on Netflix. Watanabe, a huge fan of Gaga and who has even interviewed her, expressed her joy, saying, "I was so surprised! Of course I've watched "Wednesday," but it's a show that people all over the world love, and on top of that, I'm doubly happy to be playing the role of Rosalyn, played by Lady Gaga. I'm super excited!"
"Wednesday" is a dark fantasy and mystery series starring Wednesday Addams, the eldest daughter of Charles Addams' horror comedy manga "The Addams Family," which has also been adapted into an anime and a film. Directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, this much-talked-about series has gained popularity for its unique, quirky, and humorous worldview and clever story development, with part two of season two set to premiere on September 3rd.
Gaga plays Rosalyn Rotwood, a mysterious and legendary teacher at Nevermore Academy who has a fateful encounter with Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), a key character whose fate will change for the better.
Watanabe, who was chosen to voice Rosaline in Japan, has been impersonating Lady Gaga for many years, and her parody video of her dancing to "Rain on Me" with Ariana Grande and Yuriyan Retriever has been viewed 36.92 million times (as of August 26th). She has also had a conversation with Lady Gaga.
She said that her experience of meeting Lady Gaga in person came in handy during the dubbing session, revealing, "I've actually heard Lady Gaga's voice up close, so I tried to act with a gentle way of speaking and voice quality in mind." She added, "Rosalyn is a pretty important character, so the lines were difficult, but I worked with the director to create the character and play the role. It was a lot of fun!"
