It has been announced that the drama series "A Little Esper" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm) starring actor Yo Oizumi will be broadcast in October. Although Oizumi has been active in many films, dramas and stage plays, this will be his first time starring in a TV Asahi drama series.
A completely original story that combines Japanese hero drama and sci-fi romance. After being fired from his job and divorced from his wife, Bunta (played by Oizumi) is a down-and-out salaryman who passes an interview at a mysterious company and is given a job to save the world as a "slight psychic." He then ends up living with a "stranger" as a married couple, but is also subject to the absurd and incomprehensible rule that "you must not fall in love with people"... and so the story unfolds.
The script will be written by Akiko Nogi " (TBS, 2020), and " Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea " (TBS, 2024). This will be Nogi's first time writing a script for a TV drama series.
Oizumi commented, "When I heard that the script was written by Akiko Nogi, I was really looking forward to it as it had been since the movie 'I Am a Hero' (2016). Since then, all of the works that Nogi has written have been wonderful, so I couldn't wait."
While saying he "can't say anything about the details yet," he expressed his excitement, saying, "All of the actors who will be appearing are very charming and impressive. I'm most looking forward to seeing how the acting between them will develop within Nogi's script."
Regarding the story, she said, "I have a little bit of ability, and many of my friends have the same ability. These people slowly start to save the world. It may seem like a silly story, but it develops into an amazing story, so I'm sure it will be a fun three months for everyone." She also called out, "I hope you enjoy guessing what will happen next week... who knows, you might even develop the power of a 'little bit of esper'."
