It was announced on August 19th that entertainer Yuya Tegoshi will be appearing in the NTV Sunday drama "Bokutachi-n-chi" (Sundays at 10:30pm), which will start in October and star Mitsuhiro Oikawa. This will be Tegoshi's first drama appearance in seven years, and he will play the role of a cool, gay junior high school teacher.
The drama is about love, family, and life, all of which are messy and complicated, yet somehow, we're here. This is the strange home and love comedy of "Our Family." One day, the clumsy and overly compassionate Genichi (Oikawa) meets a gay young man who has lost interest in both life and love, and they fall in love. Then, a 15-year-old girl named Hotaru Kusunoki, who hangs out at Toyoko's house for some reason, appears before the two, and the strange life of the three, connected on the fringes of society, begins.
Tegoshi has appeared in the TBS drama "Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge" (2010), and the NTV dramas "My Boss My Hero" (2006) and "Deka Wanko" (2011, 2012). In this film, he plays the role of Sakuta Saku, a middle school teacher who is tossed about by Genichi, whom he meets by chance. A visual of Tegoshi, who is well known for his blonde hair, now with black hair has also been released.
◇Comment from Yuya Tegoshi
When I heard about this project, I was impressed and genuinely happy to hear the producer's passionate thoughts and that he wanted to ask Tegoshi to play the role of So. When I actually met with the directors and told them my image of So, as the script progressed, they got closer to that image, and I was touched that they had thought up a So that was unique to me.
It was my first time meeting Oikawa-san, but he was a very friendly and cheerful person, and we hit it off right away! I'm the type of person who can quickly close the distance between me and people, so I ended up calling him "Mitchie" from the moment we met (laughs). The atmosphere on set was good, and I'm already excited, thinking, "This is going to be a fun shoot."
As I read the script, I found myself smiling, tears welling up, and my heart was deeply moved. The film also depicts themes that are symbolic of our modern age, such as LGBT and Toyoko, and I personally believe that the form of love is different for each person and that no one should criticize or deny it. As long as both parties are happy, that's fine! I would like to convey through this film the feelings I have had in my life so far, the joy of this work, and the message that "everyone lives with their own worries, and it's okay that not everyone is the same."

This is the first time I've worked with Tegoshi-kun as his love interest. Normally, on drama and movie sets, I like to maintain a balance with those around me and often act as a supporting actor, but when I encountered Tegoshi-kun's full-throttle positive energy, I was overwhelmed by his energy. I'm often thought of as a "yoko-ka" (extrovert), but in fact I'm a "business yoko-ka" (laughs). On the other hand, Tegoshi-kun is truly a natural yoko-ka. He's a great mood maker on set and a very reassuring co-star. I'm looking forward to creating a fun drama together in a harmonious atmosphere on set.
◇ Comment from Producer Hidehiro Kono
Twenty years ago, Yuya Tegoshi appeared as a high school student in the TV drama "My Boss My Hero." I still vividly remember Tegoshi-kun's brave, cute, and charming comical appearance in his school uniform.
And now, I am truly happy to be able to present "Actor Yuya Tegoshi" in a TV drama for the first time in a long time. He plays Sakuta So, a gay man who keeps a little distance from love and life, but somewhere deep inside he has a passion hidden. I can't wait to see how he will show the humanity and weaknesses behind his flashy smile. This is sure to be a production where you will get to see Yuya Tegoshi the actor, different from the image we see on variety shows. I feel that Mitchie and Tegoshi will exceed your imagination. I hope you will witness that moment.
