"Miyaneya" enters its 20th year on the air

Yomiuri TV's live information program "Information Live Miyaneya" (Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV affiliates, Monday to Friday 1:55 PM), hosted by freelance announcer Miyane Seiji, will celebrate its 20th anniversary on July 31st. Miyane and fellow MC, announcer Momo Nishio, have commented.

Miyane recalled, "I never thought I'd be doing this for 20 years, so my honest reaction is that 20 years have flown by in the blink of an eye. What's most memorable is reporting on major disasters: the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake, the Western Japan Heavy Rains, the Noto Peninsula Earthquake... The Great East Japan Earthquake in particular occurred while the program was on air. 'Miyanoe-ya' is a live broadcast. Together with the staff, I have tried and tested various methods to convey the current situation of people on the ground and what they are currently looking for."

Regarding the future of the program, he said, "I would like it to continue to be an 'unidentified program' that is unconventional and fun in normal times, and that is the most reliable source in the event of a major disaster or emergency."

Nishio, who took over as MC this spring in his third year with the company, said, "I never expected to be the MC of 'Miyanoe-ya' in my third year, so it was a bit of a hesitant start. Over the past four months, I've been watching Miyane-san's unique way of communicating on live broadcasts and his technique for adding information and comments with just a few seconds left, and recently I've even started to make eye contact. I feel that it's because the show has been running for 20 years that we have a relationship of trust with the viewers and cooperation between the performers and staff. I would like to continue to carefully build up each and every interaction and become an announcer who can firmly support the show."

To mark the 20th anniversary of the program, the panel design has been renewed with the theme of "easier viewing." "We aim to continue to create a program that is popular with everyone," the program director commented.
