It has been revealed that actors Sara Minami and Natsuki Deguchi will co-star in the film "All Greens" (directed by Takashi Koyama), which is set for release in 2026. The film is based on a coming-of-age novel written by a 21-year-old university student (at the time of release) that won the Matsumoto Seicho Prize. The two will play the protagonists who are plotting to make a fortune in order to say goodbye to a town with an uncertain future.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Namiki Do (Bunshun Bunko), which unanimously won the 28th Matsumoto Seicho Prize. Written by Namiki at the age of 21, the humorous and memorable coming-of-age novel follows Park Soo-mi, who lives a depressing life unable to find her place at school or at home, and Yaguchi Miruko, a film enthusiast who is at the top of the school hierarchy but has problems at home. They leave their town with no clear future and form a club called "All Greens" to fulfill their dreams, embarking on a forbidden extracurricular activity in the hope of making a fortune.
Minami, who plays Park Soo-mi, who dreams of becoming a rapper but spends her days feeling depressed because she can't find a place for herself at school or at home, said, "These girls, who try to crush their depressing world and move forward, are reckless and dangerous, but I found them irresistibly endearing. The way they keep running even after being hurt is truly shining, and there were many times while I was acting that I was saved by their strength." She added, "I believe this work will give real strength to those of us who feel like we can't go anywhere."
Deguchi, who plays Yaguchi Mirubeni, a movie lover who is the ace of the track and field team, sociable, and at the top of the school hierarchy, but has problems at home, said, "It was a very satisfying experience, and as I'd never played a role like this before, I was happy to be able to play Mirubeni and thought it would be fun!" She added enthusiastically, "It's a story of inappropriate coming-of-age characters who charge ahead without thinking about the consequences. I hope you'll feel the excitement and see what happens to these girls!"
A super teaser video using the theme song "Stranger" written by the music unit "NIKO NIKO TAN TAN" has also been released. The video begins with a conversation between Hidemi, played by Minami, and Miru Kurenai, played by Deguchi, and ends with the caption "An inappropriate youth begins" along with the intro to the theme song.
