Actor Katsunori Takahashi recently updated his official blog, sharing his thoughts ahead of the final episode (broadcast on July 27th) of the NHK BS period drama "Ooka Echizen 8" (NHK BS Premium 4K, Sunday 6:45 pm), in which he played the lead role.
In an entry titled "Next Sunday is the final episode!", he frankly wrote, "The time has flown by for Yatsuhon." He shared a shot of himself standing by the lake with a hat in hand during filming, and said, "This work has been going on for a long time, and although it's not flashy, it's the warmth of the people in the tenement house, and Ooka's heartfelt judgment on the white sand beach. In these brutal times, I want to do more and more. It's a work that should be around in any era. I want it to continue forever."
The final episode, "Echizen and Tenichibo," is based on the familiar "Tenichibo Incident" surrounding the illegitimate son of Tokugawa Yoshimune. However, he raised expectations by saying, "How will the final episode, 'Tenichibo Incident,' turn out? It will have a different ending than any of the previous episodes."
