Makoto Yukimura's popular manga "Vinland Saga," which was also adapted into a TV anime, concluded in the September issue of the serialized magazine "Monthly Afternoon" (Kodansha), released on July 25, bringing to a close its nearly 20-year run.
"Vinland Saga" is set in 11th century Europe and follows Thorfinn, the son of the legendary Viking warrior Thors, as he sets out to find the mythical continent of Vinland. The series began serialization in April 2005 in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (published by the same publisher), and moved to "Monthly Afternoon" in December of the same year.
The first season of the TV anime aired from July to December 2019, and the second season aired from January to June 2023.
