The release date for "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush), the sequel to the popular Disney animation "Zootopia" released in 2016, has been set for December 5th, and the first stills were released on July 15th. The popular duo Judy and Nick, who have teamed up again, and Gary, a wanted criminal being chased by Judy and Nick, are somehow looking at the camera together.
"Zootopia" is set in Zootopia, a big city where animals live like humans, and depicts the adventures of rookie police rabbit Judy and con man fox Nick who has forgotten his dream. It won Best Animated Feature at the 89th Academy Awards and Best Animated Feature at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, and is the first Disney animation film to exceed 1 billion dollars in worldwide box office revenue since "Frozen." It was also a hit in Japan, grossing over 7.6 billion yen.
In the sequel, Nick, who has successfully graduated from the police academy and become a police officer, and Judy, who is the first rabbit police officer, team up again. One day, Judy and Nick go undercover to search for Gary, a wanted snake who suddenly appears in Zootopia. As their bond is tested more than ever, they approach a huge mystery surrounding Zootopia's history and embark on an epic adventure on a grand scale that surpasses the previous film.
The film will be directed by Jared Bush, who co-directed and wrote the previous film and is now the new chief creative officer of Disney Animation Studios, and Byron Howard. It will be released in the US on November 26th.
