The first episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama " The 19th medical record " (Sundays at 9pm), starring Jun Matsumoto , was broadcast on July 13th, and recorded an average viewership rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region, same below) of 11.4% for households and 7.0% for individuals, getting off to a double-digit start.
The drama is based on the manga " The 19th medical record Tokushige's Questioning" by Katsuhito Fujiya. It depicts a general practitioner who not only treats illnesses but also lends a helping hand to patients' lifestyles. This is Matsumoto's first time playing a doctor, and the show also stars Fuka Koshiba and Mackenyu. The script was written by Aya Tsubota, who also wrote the "Kounodori" series (Same channel).
The first episode begins at Uotora General Hospital, a central location in the region. Doctors there treat patients every day. In the orthopedics department, novice doctor Takino Mizuki (Fuka Koshiba) is examining Kuroiwa Momo (Riisa Naka), who complains of pain all over her body, but Momo seems to be getting irritated by the shortness of her consultation. The doctors are pressed for time, and the patients are also getting increasingly dissatisfied with the doctors, creating a somewhat depressing atmosphere in the hospital.
Meanwhile, a man named Tokushige Akira (Matsumoto), who claims to be a general practitioner, appears... and the story unfolds.
