The popular manga "Space Brothers" by Chūya Koyama, which has been adapted into an anime and a live-action film, concluded its run in the 28th issue of the magazine "Morning" (Kodansha), released on June 11th, bringing its approximately 18-year serialization to a close. The final volume of the manga, volume 46, will be released on July 23rd.
"Space Brothers" began serialization in "Morning" in December 2007 and became a huge hit, winning both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award (General Category) and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award (General Category) in 2011. The story follows two brothers who, as children, promised to become astronauts but ended up on different paths, yet both still aim for space.
An anime television series aired from 2012 to 2014, and a live-action film starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada was also released in 2012.
