To commemorate the 29th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda's popular manga "ONE PIECE" (Shueisha) in July, it has been announced that the July 13th issue of the magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" (issue 33), which will feature the manga, will include a trading card game, "ONE PIECE Card Game" (Bandai), as a bonus. The bonus card will be "Monkey D. Luffy P-159," and the card design has been revealed. In light of the popularity of the "ONE PIECE Card Game," issue 33 will be printed with 500,000 more copies than usual.
The included cards will be sold exclusively overseas through Bandai Namco Group's official shopping site, "Premium Bandai." The digital version of "Weekly Shonen Jump" will offer a set of eight "ONE PIECE" cards as a gift to all applicants.
"ONE PIECE" is a romantic maritime adventure story about Luffy, a young man with a straw hat whose limbs can stretch like rubber, and his crew as they aim to find the "One Piece," the ultimate treasure, and become the Pirate King. It began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 1997. The comic books have sold over 600 million copies worldwide.
The TV anime series produced by Toei Animation began airing in October 1999 and reached its 1000th episode in November 2021. The completely new anime series "THE ONE PIECE," produced by WIT STUDIO, is also generating buzz as it will be streamed worldwide on Netflix starting in February 2027.
