In the first episode (aired on July 4th) of the serial drama " DOPE " (TBS, Friday 10pm), starring Kaito Takahashi of the popular group "King & Prince" and actor Tomoya Nakamura , a person with special powers appeared. Voices that reminded them of the old Friday dramas spread on SNS.
◇The following contains spoilers
The story is based on the same-titled novel (Kadokawa Bunko) by Kizaki Chiaki, who made her debut as a novelist after winning the grand prize at the 20th Dengeki Novel Prize with "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens." Set in a near-future Japan where a mysterious new drug called "DOPE" is rampant, Saiki Yuto (Takahashi), a rookie narcotics agent of the secret Narcotics Control Department Special Investigation Division (Special Investigation Division), and Jinnai Teppei (Nakamura), the division's trainer, attempt to solve a mysterious case.
DOPE is characterized by its high fatality rate, but despite that, there was no end to the number of people who tried it. Another reason for this was that in extremely rare cases, it has the effect of awakening special powers. As a result, the number of violent crimes committed by "dopers" who were awakened by DOPE increased sharply. The Narcotics Control Department scouted people who were born with special powers and established a special investigation division to crack down on DOPE.
The first episode also depicted Saiki's supernatural ability to predict the future, in which future events are visualized in his brain.
It seems that many viewers were reminded of the Friday drama "SPEC~Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Bureau Public Security Division 5 Unidentified Incident Special Task Force Case Files~" (2010, same station), in which a duo of an eccentric female detective with an IQ of 201 and a straight-laced detective fought against criminals with special abilities (SPEC). On social media, comments such as "DOPE has a bit of a SPEC feel to it," "SPEC fans will definitely get hooked!", "I love SPEC, so DOPE is really funny," and "I wonder if it has a SPEC feel to it. It feels like a special ability!" were posted.
