Musician Tamio Okuda and singer/actor Koji Kikkawa will appear on the 3-hour special variety show "Kaere Monday Mikke-tai!!" (TV Asahi), which will air on June 23rd from 7pm. The pair will travel around their hometown of Hiroshima with the comedy duo Sandwichman, who hosts the show. They will depart Hiroshima Station on a tram, visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, and then take a ferry to Miyajima.
The two, both from Hiroshima and the same age, have known each other since high school and formed the rock unit "Ooochie Koochie" in February this year. From start to finish on this trip, they were full of jokes and tsukkomi, showing just how close they are.
The two will visit places that hold special memories for the pair, including the music studio where Okuda once worked part-time. At the music studio, the store manager, who was in a band with Okuda when they were teenagers, will appear and talk about what Okuda was like back then, as well as some rare recordings from before his debut.
The story behind the formation of "Ooochie Koochie" will also be introduced. Okuda was the one who suggested it, but was confused by Yoshikawa's reaction, which made Sandwichman burst out laughing. The surprising origin of the unit's name will also be revealed. The program will also introduce the Hiroshima gourmet foods that the two recommend, "udon" and "okonomiyaki."
