The final episode of the TV drama "PJ ~Air Rescue Team~" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm), starring actor Seiyo Uchino, will be broadcast on June 19th.
Students aiming to become pararescue jumpers (PJs) learn emergency procedures to follow in the event of a mid-air collision, in preparation for the parachute descent that is the final stage of their pararescue training.
"The parachute descent is entirely up to you," said instructor Seiji Usami (Uchino), and the students became alert.
After enduring the rigorous training, the real thing finally arrives. The students are determined to take on the hopes of their classmates, Sayaka Fujiki (played by Anna Ishii) and Tatsuya Hasebe (played by Aoto Watanabe), who declined to take the rescuer course, as well as the hopes of their instructors and families who have watched over them.
Usami feels lonely when his daughter Nogi Yuna (Yoshikawa Ai), who is in the final stages of finishing her thesis at university, tells him that she is going home soon, but he pretends to be strong. Students including Sawai Jin (Fuju Kamio), who had come to feel that Yuna was a friend, also plan a farewell party.
Meanwhile, Usami hears from Yuuna that his ex-wife, Nogi Mako (Kyoka Suzuki), fell down the stairs and was injured, so he heads to see her, but...!?
The screenplay was written by Izumi Takahashi. The story depicts students aiming to become rescuers for the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Rescue Wing, an elite rescue unit known as the "last stronghold" for saving lives, as they go through rigorous training under the strict and unconventional instructor, Usami.
