"Anpan" Episode 58: Nobu appears for the first time in a while

The 58th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 AM and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on June 18th, and viewers were drawn to the heroine Nobu, who appeared for the first time in a long while.

In the 58th episode, the supply route to the garrison is cut off, and while eating hardtack, Takashi ( Takumi Kitamura) remembers Nobu's family business, "Asada Bread". Asada Bread has run out of ingredients and is forced to close. Meanwhile, "Asada Stonemason" is busy, and Kamaji (Kotaro Yoshida) continues to inscribe the names of young people who died on the battlefield onto gravestones.

With the men gone off to serve in the army, the women on the home front were supporting the town. Ranko (Yuumi Kawai) worked hard as a postman, while Meiko (Nanoka Hara) and Hatako (Noriko Eguchi) worked tirelessly digging air raid shelters.

Nobu spends her days helping out with farm work with the children who have become volunteer laborers. When the children sit down in the classroom looking completely exhausted, Nobu tells them, "You're a little tired, too, teacher. Let's take a little rest."

Nobu's last appearance in the main story was in episode 50 (broadcast June 6), and in episode 52 (broadcast June 8) she only appeared in a flashback scene. In episode 53 (broadcast June Getsuku), there was a scene where she read a letter from her husband Jiro (Ayumu Nakajima), but from episode 54 onwards, Imada's name did not appear in the opening title sequence.

Regarding Nobu's first appearance in a long time, comments were made on social media such as, "It's been a while since we've seen the Asada family part!", "It's great to see Nobu-chan again after so long!!", "Come to think of it, was today Nobu's first appearance this week?" and "Since Nobu is the main character in this Asadora, I didn't expect them to delve so deeply into the war scenes."
