"Did your father do something bad to you?" Shindo (played by Abe) questioned Kunisada. Regarding the relationship between his father, Tetsu (played by Yamaguchi Makiya), who was a newspaper reporter, Shindo asked, "Did he steal your scoop? In the old days, newspaper reporters were also quite sporty. Was it power harassment?"
When Kunisada lied and said that Tetsu was a caring man, Shindo criticized him, saying, "If that's the case, then tell me why you betrayed my father and tried to bury me."
Shindo also had Kunisada take out a soot-covered oil lighter from a drawer in his desk. Shindo was certain that it belonged to Tetsu because it had a scratch that Shindo had made as a child.
"This is yours," said Shindo, showing Kunisada's lighter. When Shindo asked, "How did the two lighters get swapped? Surely not...", the video flashed to a scene of Tetsu's death. It was implied that Kunisada had thrown the lighter into Shindo's house, causing a gas explosion and killing Tetsu.
Shindo glared at Kunisada and said, "My father didn't commit suicide. Chairman Kunisada, you killed my father. I will never forgive you."
On social media, comments such as "Chairman Kunisada is really bad," "Kunisada is the very definition of an evil magistrate," "Chairman Kunisada is such a villain we rarely see these days lol," "I'm still blown away by how blown away I was by Hideki Takahashi and Hiroshi Abe's acting," "The scene where Shindo declares war on Chairman Kunisada was really heartwarming," and "I can't believe it was Chairman Kunisada who set the fire" were all the rage.
