Actor Ikkei Watanabe appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on June 3rd. He talked about the disappearance of his pet cat and the activities of the "cat detective."
Watanabe has two cats. One of them once "ran away." "My wife said, 'There's a cat detective. I saw it on TV. Let's get him to come,' so I called him without knowing what he was talking about, and my wife answered the phone."
The cat detective said, "I'm currently being followed on TV, so it's fine if you're okay with showing your face." "My wife didn't tell him I was an actor," he said, but he agreed to show his face or whatever if it meant he could find the cat, so he came.
According to the cat detective, cats have a homing instinct so they would definitely head in that direction. "When we brought the cat home, we traveled by car, so it's likely he wouldn't know (the direction, etc.)," he said, to which the detective replied, "No, don't underestimate cats. He will definitely return there, so let's search for him along that route." He went on to say, "In the end it took about a week, but my wife found him along the route at night. It was miraculous," he recalled.
He said to the cat detective, "Since you found the cat, I paid you a proper fee.I appeared on the show, but of course I didn't receive any appearance fee," and expressed his gratitude, saying, "(The cat detective who appeared) was an extremely talented person.Thank you very much."
