The 63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show (sponsored by the Shizuoka Model Teaching Materials Cooperative Association) opened on May 14th at Twin Messe Shizuoka (Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City). Among the new products, the one that attracted the most attention was the Gunpla "PG UNLEASHED 1/60 Nu Gundam" based on the Nu Gundam from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack." The release of this product was announced at the opening ceremony of the event "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -FINAL-" held in February, and the fact that the popular Nu Gundam was being released from the "highest-end brand" "PG UNLEASHED" series was a hot topic. The Gunpla model "HG 1/144 Gundam Jilius", the main character's machine from "Mobile Suit Gundam Eight", was also unveiled. The work is a "completely new alternative series" that will begin serialization in the August issue of the manga magazine "Monthly Gundam Ace" (KADOKAWA), which goes on sale on June 26th. It was also announced that the Gunpla from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" will be released in November as "MG 1/100 Gundam Barbatos Lupus." It has also been announced that the ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Wing Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, will be released in October. It will be a new product in the easy-to-assemble ENTRY GRADE series.
New products from the "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series, "MG 1/100 Blaze Zaku Phantom (Dearka Elsman's custom machine)" and "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II [Final Battle Image Color]" were also announced.
The Shizuoka Hobby Show is an exhibition that has been held since 1959 in Shizuoka City, where many model makers' factories are located. This year's show will be held from May 14th to 18th, with the 17th and 18th being open to the public. Advance registration is required for admission.
