The interim results of the Sanrio Character Rankings 2025, a popularity poll for Sanrio characters, were announced on May 13th. Following on from the April preliminary results, Sanrio's three biggest "dog characters" maintained their top three spots in the interim results, with Pompompurin coming in first, Cinnamoroll in second, and Pochacco in third.
Pompompurin has been ranked first three times in the past, and this time she is aiming to achieve her long-cherished dream for the first time in nine years. In second place is Cinnamoroll, who has won five consecutive times since 2020, and in third place is Pochacco, who has been a regular in the top five for the past five years. In fourth place is the consistently popular Kuromi, and in fifth place is Hello Kitty.
The Sanrio Character Awards is a public voting project for Sanrio characters that began in 1986. Last year, the total number of votes exceeded 57.07 million, the highest ever. This year marks the 40th anniversary, and the theme is "Jump to the future with you!", with 90 characters entered. Voting will begin on April 10th and will continue until May 25th. The final results will be announced on June 29th.
