The 18th episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , titled "Utamaro, virtue is but a fleeting dream", was broadcast on May 11th, and the "special effects scene" became a hot topic among viewers.
" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama and depicts the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have laid the foundations for Japan's media industry and pop culture.
In the 18th episode, Tsutaju (Yokohama), who was searching for the author of the blue book, has an idea while comparing several paintings by an artist named Toyoaki Kitagawa (Toranosuke Kato). He immediately visits Toyoaki, but meets a man named Sutekichi (Shota Sometani) in the tenement house.
Meanwhile, Tsutaju asks "Ma-san" (played by Omi Toshinori) to write a new blue book. Kisanji is given special treatment by being allowed to stay at the brothel for several nights, and begins to write, but after a while, Kisanji stops writing...
Kisanji, who "has no energy in his lower body," is prescribed medicine by a doctor, but it turns out to be just a sleeping pill. Eventually, Kisanji "resurrects" with the medicine working (?), but the "lustful energy" in his lower body transforms into a giant snake. While everyone is shocked, Ine (Mizuno Miki) confronts him with a sword in hand, and beautifully cuts the snake in half with a single stroke... but this was just a dream Kisanji had.
Viewers responded to the scene on social media with comments such as, "Wait, special effects?", "You don't see special effects in taiga dramas!! (lol)", "I was watching the taiga drama so I was surprised when the special effects started suddenly", and "I was confused by the sudden special effects". Fans were excited with comments such as, "Inesan is so cool!", "Inesan is the strongest", "Inesan's fighting style is as expected of Mizuno Miki!", "Mizuno Miki, one-hit sword action lol", and "She's not doing action scenes for nothing".
