It has been revealed that the TV anime "Mechanical Marie", based on Akimoto Aki's manga, will be broadcast in the fall of 2025. It is a romantic comedy about Marie, a former genius martial artist with a lack of expression, and Arthur, the heir to a large conglomerate. It was also announced that Nao Toyama will play Marie and Haruki Ishiya will play Arthur. The anime will be directed by Junji Nishimura and produced by Zero G and Lieber.
The story of "Mechanical Marie" is about Marie, who, due to certain circumstances, ends up serving Arthur, a man who hates humans, as a "robot maid," and protects Arthur from assassins who attack him every day, fulfilling her duties... Visuals of Marie and Arthur have been released, along with a teaser PV that shows Marie's daily nervousness, saying, "I must never let anyone find out that I'm human..."
Higashiyama commented, "Marie has a blank expression, but inside her heart is a riot of joy, anger, sadness, and happiness, and I think she is so cute and tries her best at all times. People around her say she is like a robot, but deep down inside she is warm, kind, and serious. Her purity as her love for Arthur grows stronger is very charming, so I want to cherish her and be close to her."
Ishiya said, "It's comical, but I want to be able to maintain a firm core as Arthur. He's cool, but also cute, and he's an emotional character whose expressions change frequently throughout the episodes, both towards Marie and the other characters, so I want to use all of my creative talents to portray him. Personally, I haven't had much experience playing the main role, so I'm looking forward to it."
