It has been announced that the new film "JUNK WORLD," which follows the stop-motion animation "JUNK HEAD," which was made almost entirely by director Takahide Hori himself and took about seven years to produce, will be released on June 13th. The official trailer for the second film in the "JUNK" series has been released on YouTube.
The story is set 1042 years before the events of "JUNK HEAD," where humans and the artificial lifeform Mulligan investigate a strange incident that occurred in the underground city of Karpbar, which was supposed to have become a ghost town. The released footage shows the investigation team, led by Triss, the captain of the human side, and Dante, an original individual leading Mulligan's side, carrying out their investigation despite being attacked by the Gyula cult. It was also revealed that the new work will have Japanese audio.
Director Hori was born in Oita Prefecture in 1971. In December 2009, he began independent production of the 30-minute short film "JUNK HEAD 1." Director Hori had no experience in video production, but in an age when CG was at its peak, he chose to create "JUNK HEAD" using stop-motion animation. The film's unique worldview became a hot topic, and although it was an indie film, it was a hit, grossing over 140 million yen, and winning numerous film awards. The new film took about three years to produce.
